Swasti Prawidya, or Asti, is a ProFauna member (volunteer) who helped ProFauna and P-WEC run its mobile library for village children who are lack of books because their parents can not afford them. In this program, Asti wore a Javan langur costume called Simon the langur that becomes the program mascot. Female langur ‘Asti’ acted like a monkey to attract the children to come to the event.

Asti, who has been supported ProFauna since her high school, waved her hands inviting the children to read her a story. The second year college student asked the village children to pick wildlife conservation books. She managed to draw the children’s attention.

Despite getting hot because of wearing such thick and heavy costume for almost two hours, Asti was happy acting out like a monkey. As long as for wildlife protection, she was all out to show to the children that the female langur ‘Asti’ was to symbolize that wildlife are more beautiful in the wild, not in cages. Thank you Asti.
