ProFauna to Launch Wildlife Conservation Activist Training Program in Indonesia
ProFauna Indonesia, a leading wildlife protection organization in Indonesia, is launching a training program on wildlife and its habitat conservation issues for NGOs and concerned youth. The training, which will be held in Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Maluku, is supported by RSPCA and emphasizes on how to develop programs as well as to develop NGOs outside Java working on wildlife conservation issues of Indonesia.
It is a totally-free training as the objective of the training is to improve the capacity of ProFauna's member as well as that of the local NGOs. This training is held to meet the request of ProFauna’s member and the local NGOs from outside Java to develop both their self-potency and organization to give more to the nature.
With ProFauna’s 12-year working experience in wildlife conservation issues, its senior activists will share their experience and knowledge to its member and those local NGOs. Rosek Nursahid, one of ProFauna’s founders who will also be one of the trainers said, “As ProFauna was born and has been raised within Indonesian environment, we really understand the characteristics of Indonesian community and NGOs. Hence, our approach and training methods will be adjusted to the character and culture of Indonesian community”.
The intended outcome of the training is to improve the capacity of ProFauna’s members and that of those local NGOs so that in the future they will be able to act independently in a sustainable way. Besides that, the training is also expected to enlarge the wild animal protection movement which has been pioneered by ProFauna since 1994. Now ProFauna has 3000 active members and 500.000 supporters spreading all over Indonesia.
